IDT317 : Industrial design studio II / Faculty of Art and Design

This course is designed to enhance the student’s design skills in order to prepare them for the industry. At this stage students will learn how design can be enhanced when strategically incorporate explorations of form, function, ergonomics, materials and technologies into their design proposal. It provides the opportunity for students to demonstrate their capability to integrate appropriate skills in design problem solving reflecting in their project. It will give opportunities to develop their design capabilities and the confidence to design, make and modify products for specific purposes, selecting and using resources effectively. This subject introduces students to designing products for specific purposes at a more advanced level, and builds on knowledge gained in the previous semester. This course level aims to develop skills in product design and development processes; covering aspects of research (case study), concept/idea generation, concept development and the documentation/delivery of design outcomes. Verbal and visual presentation of computer presentation rendering along with the details model will conclude at the end of the course.
