Abstract

Attendance monitoring is one of the issues faced by many organizations, especially universities. The difficulties to properly manage students’ attendance, its subsequent action, and potential responses to certain problems. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to develop a web-based information system for managing the Student’s Attendance by the UiTM’s Management (Hal Ehwal Akademik) named as Attendance Monitoring System (AMOS). This system will deal with the maintenance of the student’s attendance details. It generates the attendance of the students on basis of presence in class. It is maintaining on the daily basis of their attendance. The system addressed several problems; (1) lecturer forget to print out and bring the attendance to class, (2) lecturer misallocate the attendance, and (3) student can duplicate their friend signature whenever their friend absents to class. Besides that, for the system features; the system utilize the bar code system whereby it is enable the process of record student’s attendance become more effective and efficient. Furthermore, the staffs need to register for getting their own username and password to login the system. Moreover, this system will be linked with the ZZ system that will directly send the report to the HEA for further action. The notification automatically will appear when the student’s percentage didn’t attend the class below 80%. Parents also will receive an email and SMS notification. The uniqueness of the application system is systematic and can be prevent from loss of attendance papers, especially in the form of manuals, mostly by manual, not just registration but authorization too and eliminate duplicate data entry and errors in time and attendance entries.
