Abstract
Solar cookers are an innovative solution for cooking food using solar energy, reducing the need for traditional fuel sources, and promoting sustainability. However, existing solar cookers are often costly and not eco-friendly. This project aims to design and develop a modified version of a portable solar cooker that is more affordable and eco-friendlier while maintaining the same functionality as existing products. Existing solar cookers are often costly and made from materials that are not eco-friendly. This limits their accessibility and sustainability, particularly for individuals and communities that prioritize nature conservation. The primary objective of this project is to design and develop a portable solar cooker that is eco-friendlier and more affordable than existing products. The cooker must function effectively using solar energy as its sole source of power. The use of aluminium as a substitute for stainless steel will also be explored to reduce manufacturing costs and improve accessibility. The solar cooker was designed and fabricated using aluminium as a substitute for stainless steel to reduce manufacturing costs while maintaining functionality. The cooker was tested and evaluated for its cooking efficiency, durability, and user-friendliness. The use of aluminium as a substitute for stainless steel in the fabrication of the solar cooker reduced manufacturing costs by up to 70%. The cooker functioned effectively using solar energy as its sole source of power, promoting sustainability. The aluminium material also made it easy for users to find spare parts if needed. The solar cooker was user-friendly and demonstrated efficient cooking capabilities.
