Industrial training report: Putra Specialist Hospital (Melaka) Sdn Bhd

Putra Specialist Hospital (Melaka) Sdn Bhd, formerly referred to as The Southern Hospital, is a privately owned hospital by the State Government of Melaka. This hospital started its operation in 1995. The hospital derives advantages from its strategically located location, which is easily accessible near the bus station, taxi station, hotel, and other facilities like Grab car services, contributing to the overall convenience and accessibility for patients and visitors. Medical Records Department plays an important role in the healthcare system by systematically documenting the medical history, treatment, and care of patients. The records generated serve as a basis for planning future care, facilitating communication between healthcare providers, and protecting the legal rights of both patients and hospitals. The implementation of the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) project by the Medical Records Department signifies a shift toward a more efficient, accessible, and comprehensive approach to managing patient information which is a transition from traditional paper-based medical records to a digital system. This report presents an in-depth analysis of the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats (SWOT) related to the Medical Records Department at Putra Specialist Hospital based on my experience throughout an internship. For each element of the SWOT analysis, two key points are provided to evaluate the department thoroughly. Additionally, I provide recommendations they can consider implementing to enhance the performance of this department.
