Abstract

This course is designed to expose the students to the possibilities that can exist beyond the norm of the common theatre performances. Topics will include understanding the realism and anti-realism such as the ‘alienation’ by Berthold Brecht and the Theatre of Cruelty of Antonin Artaud. By making the comparison between the two isms, the students will be able to see the differences in those performances. Before being able to experiment with any kind of art form, they students must understand the basic theatre. Why do we need to experiment? And from what source as the foundation before the students eager to experiment is also vital. Therefore strong understandings of the main structure of the theatre are crucial.
