Abstract
Erosivity of rainfall and the erodibility of soil are the main factors that contribute to the erosion process. These are the parameters that have to be thoroughly considered in predicting the erosion risk. The universal soil loss equation (USLE) predicts the amount of soil loss due to all the factors which influence erosion such as Rainfall Erosivity (R), Soil Erodibility (K), Slope Length (L), Slope Steepness (S), Cropping and Management Factor (C) and Conservation Factor (P). Erosivity itself is strongly influenced by the climatic condition and it is totally related to the rainfall characteristic and its kinetic energy. This relationship thus produces the factor (R) (erosivity index). In obtaining the index, the kinetic energy of each rainstorm is multiplied by its maximum 30 minutes (I30) intensity. To compute this, rainfall data from rain gauge recorder were obtained, evaluated and analyzed.
