Abstract

This course will expose the student to analyse and explain the development of performance styles from classical to contemporary and the techniques of performance (acting) styles in theoretical manner. The performance styles are divided into classical, modern and postmodern which also covers Malaysian and Western styles of performance. Throughout the duration of the term, students will be provided by the case study of acting performance methods by Constantin Stanislavski, Bertolt Brecht, Peter Brook, Meyerhold, Jerzy Grotowski and Antonin Artaud. By the end of the course, the students are hoped to explain and justify the various style of performances.
