Abstract

This course introduces students to the history, theory and practice of a documentary production. In the first part of the course, deals with the history of the documentary from its beginning in the 1920s to the present. This course will also expose students to the variety of documentary forms and practices developed by selected filmmakers in representing the world such as by using fact, truth, objectivity, critiquing reality or parodying etc. In the second part of the course, students will demonstrate their creativity, critical thinking and practical skills by producing a short documentary film.
