The determinants of waqf awareness among students in UiTM Cawangan Johor, Kampus Segamat / Raihan Azera Ahamad

This study examine about the determinants of waqf awareness among students in UiTM Cawangan Johor, Kampus Segamat. The issue arising here is the level of the awareness regarding to waqf among university students. According to Abdelghani Echchabi (2015), the optimal use of waqf as a tool to alleviate property and enhance the living standard of the Muslim communities, is dependent on the Muslims awareness about waqf and its potential in solving the most of the economic and social problem. Muhammad (2010) states that lack of awareness about waqf is a barrier to harnessing its potential in redressing socio-economic inequities and enhancing the quality of life of the poor. There are about 150 of questionnaires were distributed among degree students in UiTM Cawangan Johor, Kampus Segamat. After the questionnaires were collected, it was analysed by using Statistical Packaged for Social Science (SPSS) Version 2. l. Lastly, the findings from this study can be explained by the relevant data of this section, which are frequency analysis, descriptive analysis, reliability analysis, Pearson correlation analysis and multiple regression analysis. This study also provided the discussion of the findings with the relevant data and research studies. In line with that, the findings of the study revealed that only one of the independent variables are significant with the dependent variable, which is facilitating conditions. Besides that, this study can be a reference for other future study to carry on as it provides the current information regarding to the waqf awareness as well as some recommendations related that will influence practitioners and policy makers to enhance and develop instruments to enhance the awareness of waqf and subsequently its use as a tool to alleviate poverty especially in the Muslim world.
