It offers grounding in the broad range of skills required to work in this competitive and exciting field in a range of working situations. This course examines the philosophy of collecting and the application of disciplinary research in the museum context. Topics include collections and acquisitions policies, object and communication of research through exhibitions, public programs, and print and electronic publications. This course offers a means of understanding not only the history of art in Malaysia, but also new directions and the political, economic, social and aesthetic contexts relevant to this field. It will also enable the students to understand issues related to running a gallery within today's market and within current economic and political imperatives. The Art Curatorship and Gallery Studies internship is a great opportunity to test the theoretical ideas in the workplace.
