An increasing of population in the Rumah Seri Kenangan Kuching / Francellya Francis, Shella Manggat and Sharon Aileen Bidi

Rumah Seri Kenangan is government institution to place the unfortunate old age who have been abandont by family members and also by societies. Rumah Seri Kenangan is located at KM20, Kuching-Serian Road. This welfare home was established in 1932 by the Donation of Chinese Society in Kuching for Kern Orang Papa. It is to give appreciation of the memory of Charles Brooke, the second rajah of Sarawak. In 1957, Sarawak government has asked the social community welfare to take over the Kern orang papa at the end of 1968. According to the report, from the Ministry Of Welfare Society, old folks that can enter the welfare home must be above 60 years old, have sad background. For example, they doesn't have siblings, family, and being left by their husband beside they cannot afford own life because of sickness. The need protection and help from others in order to get better life.
