Abstract

First and foremost, praises and thanks to Allah S.W.T, The Almighty, for His showers of blessings throughout my journey writing this industrial training report assignment and to complete it successfully. I am glad that this industrial training started and ended well. My experience at Majlis Perbandaran Pontian was the beginning of a wonderful and educational industrial training programme that lasted for six months. My internship report provides information regarding the time that I spent working as an intern at Majlis Perbandaran Pontian, which began on March 1st, 2023 and continued until August 15th, 2023. Majlis Perbandaran Pontian offers a variety of function such as Development Function, General Administration Function, Social, Protocol/Certificate and Licensing and District Security Function and ready to serve the public. During my internship period which will last for a total of six months, I will be working at the Department of Licensing and Enforcement where I have been taught about the processes for new applications for premise licenses for business, industry, stalls, hawkers and night markets. I have learned the procedure step by step and are able to assist my colleagues in the process. When given a task, I always complete it to the satisfaction of my superiors and colleagues. When it comes to the SWOT analysis, Majlis Perbandaran Pontian’s SWOT analysis that I have carried out has been as thorough as possible to assist the organization in becoming aware of as many potential flaws as is possible. Favourable location and has significant landscape value, power and authority, good review on the internet and each personnel receive high allowance are among their undeniably strengths. As for weaknesses, they have low multitasking skills among workers, the business license approval processes are very slow due to its complicated procedures to adhere, sluggish response and service delivery from service providers, lack of initiative of learning computer software among employees and obsolete system and technology. They also have emerging opportunities like the possibility of improving existing business premises license, strong support from community and other government agencies, boost marketing techniques and the new LED screen that has just been introduced could drive up new demand. Lastly, among the threats they might face is individuals and community wanting immediate results, role conflict with the other government agency, rapid rate of advancement in information and communications technology to keep up with and vandalism behavior of society towards public infrastructures provided.
