Abstract

The study of Malay traditional costumes is divided into 3 aspects. First, is the study of its background, history and influencing factors to the development of Malay traditional costumes. The second aspect is the study of philosophy that created the costume concept. The third is the analysis of the costume, design, various uses of traditional fabrics, pattern, motive and accessories with symbolic meanings. Students will be showed the steps to making traditional garments, pattern cutting and the process of sewing.
