Abstract

Short films have become a common entity within popular culture and development of digital art. While it was predominantly used as a tool for sharing personal views and propaganda, it has now evolved to address various social, political, and economical issues. Short films remain as a means of screen writers to experiment with ideas and visions within a shorter length of time. Writing short films set the basis for students to learn the art and craft of storytelling in order to apply the key principles in creating feature film scripts and screenplays in the future. This course introduces students to elements such as idea conceptualisation all the way through till writing for the screen. Students are exposed to the characteristics of writing short films that are engaging and appealing.
