Abstract
Surabaya is the capital city of East Java Province and also the 2nd largest city in Indonesia. Since its inception, Surabaya has a long history associated with heroic values. 'Surabaya' consists of the words Sura (Dare) and Baya (Danger), which can then be interpreted as daring to face the danger that comes. One of the values of this heroism was manifested in the battle between Raden Wijaya and the Mongol troops led by Kublai Khan in 1293. This battle is so historic that the date is used as the founding date of Surabaya to this day, namely on May 31.
The heroism of the people in Surabaya is most clearly illustrated in the battle of 10 November 1945 (The Battle of Surabaya). At 6:00 AM, Surabaya was attacked by the allies (British). Then at 09:00 AM, the Surabaya Battle Command gave the official order to counter the attack by the allied forces. At 09:30, Bung Tomo also gave an order to the ranks of the people to join forces with other troops to fight the allied attack.
