CDT660 : Studio ceramic degree project / College of Creative Arts

This course is a major area leading to the final Degree Show, which all students are required to take participate and exhibit their products as a major part of their degree assessment. Students are requisite to design, create and produce a portfolio of works to be assessed at the exhibition at the end of the semester. Works are to include idea research and development, sketches of ideas, idea drawings, technical drawings, presentation drawings, samples of experiment / test pieces, and the final executed set of practical works (3D products). Students are required to come up with their own proposal of ideas, design problems etc. These proposals will be further discussed with the lecturer on various aspects, concept, ideas, design, aesthetic, technical and processes, functionality etc. before they finally executed. Students will be assigned to the particular lecturer recommended to them based on studio specialization, or the nature of their proposed degree project. Students are required to work very closely with the lecturer on every aspect/stage of the project. A proposed idea in sketches and written form are to be submitted by each student at the end of the 1st week of class. Through several discussions with the appropriate lecturers within the following 2 weeks, these proposals will be further enhanced and developed towards a more complete and meaningful project to be executed for the degree assessment exhibitions.
