Abstract
I chose to do experiments with natural dyes using black bean or in scientific studies known as Phaseolus Vulgaris L. Black bean is one of the most underrated bean that contains richness of protein for health and it gives a magnificent color as a source for natural dyes. I explore more of black bean dyes in resist methods by experimenting every part of the black bean plant and use inspiration from the flowers as the main design element. Black beans dyes come in various shades of colors starting from grey to blue, purple, brown and it can even turn into a pink and peachy color by adding different mordant. I designed a collection of contemporary Malay woman attire with additional shawl series in a floral design arrangement.
