Abstract
Don’t throw away your onion skins! They make great fabric dye. Let me introduce it, Allium Cepa L also known as red onion which I use in my projects are locally grown onions. They produce a range of earthy colors. The uniqueness of the motifs and patterns created were inspired from the lines and shape of the onions and its roots. From the motifs and lines, I designed various compositions and arrangements with added textures using different qualities of lines. I produced a 4 meter batik fabric and three pieces of resist based garments as my project. I have explored and learned that there is always something new to discover about plants. This is what fascinates me about natural dyes.
