Abstract
Morus Nigra, commonly known as Mulberry, is a species of flowering plant belonging to the Moraceae family. Prematurely ripened fruits range in colour from white to green to a very light yellow. As it ripens, the fruit changes from pink to red, and finally to a dark purple or black colour, and it develops a pleasant, sweet taste. In this project, the artist explores the viability of using natural dye made from Morus Nigra extract which is from
the fruit and leaf. A wide range of quality of lines are used to create textures and movement. The exploration of elements and characteristics of the Morus Nigra as my inspiration is used in developing motifs and patterns for textile design composition. The designer applies resist technique to increase the aesthetic value of the designed textile.
