TSL756 : Theories and practices in ESP / Faculty of Education

This course introduces the learner to an area of ELT that has developed into a legitimate discipline of its own, i.e. English for Specific Purposes (ESP). It takes the learner through the milestones in the development of ESP. The course also examines theoretical and conceptual perspectives that are the bases of ESP. The learner is exposed to various approaches in the teaching of ESP, ESP programme design and materials evaluation. Key issues in the practice of ESP are discussed. Assessment focuses on practical applications of what has been taught.
