Abstract
The rise of the times has drastically changes our life. We can see that there is a lot of advance technology that helps our daily life just at the fingertips. A lot of invention of gadget such as smartphone makes it easy for us to connect with people. Social media is one of the medium for us to communicate and sharing information with people all around the world. In this thesis, we are doing research about the effects of citizens' journalism interferences in social media towards the journalism industry in Malaysia. As we can see, in social media there is a lot citizen that spread and posts the news that they know immediately. Without any censorship, there are also cases where those citizens spreading the news without any validity and even worst they exaggerate the news. But citizen journalism also comes with its benefits in which we can get the news quickly. The interference of this citizen journalism in social media somehow affects the journalism industry in Malaysia. It is because, we are checking up of social media more than 12 hours in a day. So people get the news from social media easily. There are a lot of weaknesses that journalism industry have especially for the pro government because there are news that they filtered. It can be said that journalism industry in Malaysia faces a lot of challenges plus with the existence of social media where people can look up for the news easily.
