Abstract
This course provides an overview of epistemology of art, the historical and philosophical foundations of visual art education. Lectures and discussions about the roles of social, economic, and political factors in shaping visual art education philosophies and practices, will also be conducted. Through analysis and directed critiques sessions, students will be asked to examine the evolution of educational beliefs and practices in visual art education from the end of the 19th century, through the 20th century, into the 21st century.
