MAE416 : Teaching of mathematics for primary school / Faculty of Education

The purpose of this course is to understand different approaches to theorizing and studying primary school mathematics learning and epistemology as represented by its developments in content knowledge and pedagogical content knowledge. It is designed to blend instructional techniques and mathematical concepts related to the teaching of mathematics. The course will consider theories of learning math, the nature of math, mathematical thought processes, current views on the learning and teaching of mathematics and various appropriate instructional strategies towards the goal of understanding and advancing students' learning in the teaching and learning of primary mathematics.
