Abstract

This is a seminar course discussing the writing of research proposal. Students are required to present their topics related to the component of the relevance sub-headings that are required in writing a research proposal according to each individual research topic. It aims at developing students’ understanding of writing a research proposal with emphasis to the topic chosen for a study. The components that are highlighted include background of the study, statement of the problem, formulating research objectives, research questions, literature review and research design and methodology. Upon completion of this course, students are required to have the ability to write a good research proposal. This course is compulsory for all students who intend to undertake a post graduate degree at the Master’s level. The learners are expected to do a lot of independent and critical reading of research journals and conducting research.
