Effective Speaking: Practice for MUET is a comprehensive and compact 83 page speaking guidebook designed for ESL learners in Malaysian schools and institutions of higher learning. This book introduces major issues and key concepts to students through attractive picture stimulus, thought- provoking questions, current issues and a classroom-friendly approach. The model answers and language expressions provided help students apply their prior knowledge to personal language¬ learning experiences. Appropriate skills and expressions are presented to motivate students to develop awareness of relevant skills and language use in conversation, discussion, negotiation and oral presentation. This book offers a variety of speaking practices that will help students learn and work independently of the language teacher, thus increasing their level of confidence. Although there are many MUET books in the market, feedback from students in UiTM as well as public schools who have used this book is encouraging. Students who find little opportunity for conversational interactions outside the classroom can familiarize themselves with the types of expressions used in speaking tasks.
