Abstract

This is an introduction to 3-D sculptural techniques, processes and mixed media construction. A broad range of techniques and processes are introduced through demonstration and placed into practice through assignments. Besides gaining basic language and process of sculpture, this course examines sculptural form as means of communicating ideas. Students analyze a variety of sculptural works and explore materials, style, contexts and sculptural traditions. Through a series of lectures, workshops, individual research projects, students will gain skills and understanding of the theoretical, per formative and evaluative knowing of art practice and art criticism.
