Abstract

Technological developments at present affect the progress of the nation, economy and human life. Various technologies are used for the benefit of human beings and make it easier for them to go about their daily lives. However, gambling activities are also growing in line with technological advances used by all walks of life today. This is very worrying among the Muslim community, especially teenagers who have been exposed to the use of technology such as Internet -enabled devices, computers and others. This makes the exposure of online gambling activities to Muslim teenagers more easily influenced by them. Online gambling is a game that features gambling activities offered in Internet -enabled devices (Sally, 2015). Therefore, a study on the understanding of online gambling was conducted on Muslim students at UiTM Dungun with the objective of identifying their level of understanding of online gambling and examining their level of awareness of the disadvantages of online gambling and suggest effective mechanisms for prevention of online gambling. The research method chosen to be used is a quantitative method by randomly selecting some Muslim students of UiTM Dungun to be questioned about this study. The results of the study found that all respondents involved in the study achieved an excellent level in understanding of online gambling, awareness of the disadvantages of online gambling and effective prevention mechanisms from online gambling involvement. This causes the objectives of the study to be met as a whole. At the end of the report, this study provides recommendations for the improvement of future studies so that research on online gambling can be done in detail involving every layer of society.
