Abstract
Malaysians are now increasingly finding themselves exposed to natural disasters especially flash flood in the urban areas. The cities and urban areas are ever more becoming the settlement of choice for a majority of populations. Many of the global environment problems that we are now facing have their precedence and causes in the cities and urban areas we live in. various economics and social aspects compound the risk that urban residents face. This study presents some recommendations for Malaysians and the Malaysian government to improve the level of disaster preparedness. This study is timely to the public especially to the local community to deal with and ultimately, survive from a disaster.
