Abstract

The aim of this paper is to examine the factors that influencing the demand of family takaful in Malaysia. The demand of family takaful is choose as the dependent variable in this study, There are six independent variables to be used which are are Income(GDP), Interest rate(IR), Inflation(IFN), Stock(ST) and Financial Development(FD). Annual data is gathered over the period 1996 to 2013. The data is gathered from data stream and world data bank while financial data is gathered from financial stability and payment system report. A multiple linear regression is used in this study. In addition, econometric tests are employed to observe the relationship of the economic variables to the demand of family takaful. Interactive software package E-view would be used for testing and analysing the data collected. Moreover, the expected finding is income, interest rate, and financial development has positive relationship with the demand of family takaful. On the other hand, inflation and stock has negative relationship with the demand of family takaful.
