Abstract
This study empirically investigates the relationship between economic growth and several factors (government debt, government expenses, population and employment) in Malaysia. This study had taken the Growth Domestic Product (GDP) per capita as dependent variable in this study which is as a proxy to the economic growth while independent variables consist of four elements such as external debt, government expenditure population and employment. Investigation period for this study is done from 1982 to 2017 and frequency is yearly. The result for this study has shown that government debt, government expenses and employment give a positive significant. However, population has shown negative significant towards economic growth. The collected data was analysed using descriptive means, correlation analysis and multiple linear regressions via E-Views. Ordinary Least Squares (OLS) method was used in this research to examine the effect of government debt and other determinants on economic growth.
