Abstract

In Islam, provision and design of toilet facility should be considered important. It is because; toilet was a place to obtain physical cleanliness. Meanwhile cleanliness is very important basic principles in Islam that connecting to the ibadah activities. The shariah sources has provided basis of principles and value for design criteria to conform to the Islamic perspective for toilet design. It is the intention of this research report to evaluate the architectural design of the toilets to the investigate the level of conformity to Islamic criteria in their toilet design. The research has undergone the study through literature search and review on relevant shariah sources and floor plan analysis of the toilet in the shopping mall. The outcome of this study will indicate the level and sub-categories of toilet design which comply with the Islamic criteria. Conformation will then validate the ibadah for those who practice hygienic values in this toilet facility.
