Abstract
In Malaysia, refugees and asylum seekers are a vulnerable group that frequently deals with difficulties that put their health and welfare in jeopardy. Moreover, Malaysia is one of the countries that is not signatory to the 1951 Refugee Convention nor its Protocol that could provide an asylum system that governs the status and rights of refugees. However, there are over 170,000 refugees reside in Malaysia and there are only about 1,000 given temporary rights on protection, employments, education and healthcare where majority of Syrian refugees reside in Malaysia does not have these rights. Therefore, the purpose of this research is to study topic of The Survivability of the Syrian Refugees in Malaysia, whereby this research is using the qualitative method that require secondary data as the main source to find out the factors contribute to numbers of Syrian refugees to survive in Malaysia in addition with some difficulties they had to face regarding their current status living in Malaysia. Non-governmental organizations in Malaysia in collaborating with UNHCR and other community group to assist these vulnerable people in providing various benefits such as education, temporary safety place, healthcare, and others to ease their burden while living in the Malaysia as the second home. Other than that, their efforts have continue working together to provide rights to Syrian refugees, regarding asylum issues, rights to be employed, and rights to health through a framework to urge the government to create policy in order to help and giving new hope to live for the refugees.
