Primuncak Construction Sdn Bhd / Nur Athirah Hamzah

An internship is a period of work experience provided by an employer to introduce students and graduates to the job world, often within a particular industry relevant to their study field. As for that, every students of Faculty of Civil Engineering in Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) are required to undergo an internship for 18 weeks at their chosen company. The objectives of this internship programme is to expose students to the real-life experiences of the engineering works and to get involved in Civil Engineering projects before graduation. Not only that, internship programme also engender a competent person and build a high professionalism in each student. Primuncak Construction Sdn. Bhd. has agreed to provide a place for contract executive trainee at their company. It is a member company of Primuncak Development Group placed in Nilai, Negeri Sembilan Darul Khusus. According to CIDB, they had reached the GS for contractor class until now. As a contract executive trainee for these 18 weeks, I had gained a lot of exposure regarding the construction field. The main focus of my position is to carried out the measurement and taking-off quantities from drawings and prepare cost estimation. Not only that, I am also has to prepare the letter of acceptance to the sub contractors and suppliers. It had benefited me in many ways and one of the greatest benefit for me is to be able to gain valuable experience by getting involved directly in the tasks relating to civil engineering. It satisfy me a lot as I could maximize all those theories and knowledge which I had learnt in my lecture to my daily works. Now, I am able to expose myself to the corporate world and technical knowledge regarding civil engineering. All in all, those tasks and works that has been given, made me more understands and could interpret well with my course. Therefore, there is no doubt that this industrial training could give a best experience and very helpful towards students.
