Abstract
This research aims to critically examine the adequacy of existing of environmental law and policies in order to protect wetlands and to critically examine the importance of the National Policy on Wetlands Protection to be introduced in Malaysia. The team of six members conducted this research as part of the requirement for a Degree in the Bachelor in Legal Studies (Hons.) programme in Universiti Teknologi Mara, Shah Alam. It is to determine whose jurisdiction that responsible with regards to wetlands protection and the effects of neglecting and have, lack of knowledge on wetlands. Besides, it is also to determine the paramount way to protect wetlands with regards to the enforcement of laws. The five chapters of the research discuss the importance of wetlands as it is the national heritage of our country. Thus, it includes the research on what Malaysia are doing to protect it with the enforcement of the existing of the environmental laws and the international obligations that come with the signing of international treaties on wetlands. Last but not least, it also suggests examples and ways that can be used to help local, state and federal authorities implement conservation wetlands.
