Abstract
A study has been carried out to investigate and predict the performance of MR-deDuster, a multi-cyclones unit developed for particulate emission control system. The MR-deDuster is intentionally developed to overcome fine particulate emission problem facing by many industries. A number of semi-empirical equations were used to develop MR-deDuster. The MR-deDuster is able to capture particulate size of 3.8pm at 50% particulate collection efficiency. The study also illustrates that the unit is capable of achieving more than 90% for total particulate collection efficiency with an extremely a low pressure drop. The multi-cyclone has a positive potential for commercialization due to its new added values as well as the demand of multi-cyclone usage in Malaysian industry in controlling fine particulate emission.
