Abstract
Schools were first closed from March 18, 2020, with all non-essential businesses shut and movement curbed. While primary and secondary schools later resumed in phases from July 15, 2020, onwards, however, shut again from October 14 2020, due to a surge in COVID-19 cases. All schools nationwide were subsequently closed on November 9 2020, as cases spiked, ahead of the last day of the school year on December 17 or December 18 2020, depending on the state. This meant students in Malaysia only attended school in person for about five to six months in 2020.
