Abstract
Comic defined as a graphic medium with inside painting plots and inside plots have dialogue balloons. Comics and cartoons are synonymous with youth and children, it is often misinterpreted as a decadent and reading material which does not provide any benefit to the readers. This is because comics contain more entertainment aspects rather than educational genre and preaching. Indirectly, it has been brushed aside public’s cynicism about the comic. Application of comic in textile design form is a new mixture. Before this there are few researches about comic’s characters’ application in textile design. The purpose of this research is to identify opportunity and potential of textile design which can be received well by society in Malaysia especially youth group which become the main of this research. Teenagers nowadays do not want to use design traditional batik existing since it’s not relevance in this modern era This research hopes can widen the textile industry in Malaysia especially ‘batik’ so that can be acceptable by people of all ages. Youngsters are a large group of people in Malaysia who is the main target in this research. Other than that, comic is quite synonym for this group. This research is looking for a chance to create design based on comic which can be commercial in markets which includes textiles as curtains, cushions, bed sheet, blankets and many more.
