Abstract

This study explores the uses of pentatonic scale for lead electric guitar players for beginner in rock music. As the guitar player, pentatonic scale are commonly used by the electric guitar especially for improvise. Major and minor pentatonic scales are often used for improvising the rock music. In the pentatonic scales, there are techniques that commonly used such as bending, hammer on and pulled off, blues technique, solo over the chords and how to make melody in the scales. This study explains the differences between major and minor pentatonic and the additional note in the scale. Besides, the study explain the way of using the techniques while improvising. There are audio recording and guitar tabulate provided in term of CD.
