The awareness of waqf on education among staff of Majlis Amanah Rakyat (MARA): a case study on Majlis Amanah Rakyat (MARA) in Kelantan / Mohamad Ikmal Hakimi Zuraimi

Waqf is one of the Islamic institutions that existed since the time of the Prophet. It serves as the driving force of the economy and the development of Muslims. The institution also plays a very important role in the success of the Islamic social security system, in addition to the zakat mechanism, charity, grants and others. As such, it is our responsibility today to ensure that the system works well in tandem with the current economic and educational developments in the country. This role is not limited only in matters of worship to God S.W.T. only, it is regarded as an economic institution that has a beneficial effect on the Malays especially and Muslims generally. When this education wakaf system is implemented, surely the level of understanding and the level of education of the country will increase. But there are many obstacles and challenges that this institution does not work as expected. Consequently, the inherent nature of this waqf system should be planned and implemented systematically so that it can be a catalyst for the current Malay and Islamic social security systems.
