Abstract
This study describes the new development of the landscape within the university and is a lake area. The study was conducted to investigate some of the elements in Tasik Ilham, UiTM Perlis. This study also aims to propose a new design with a Japanese garden concept. studies have been done by examining some of the elements required in Japanese concepts such as softscape and hardscape. The study that has been done to obtain information and references for the elements for Japanese garden is based on University Landscape, Japanese Garden Concept, and several reference studies such as Japanese Garden Ipoh Perak, Ritsurin Garden at Takamatsu Japan, Taman Ngarai Maarak Wisata Baru kota Bukit Tinggi, and Takugawa Garden at Nagoya City of Japan. Existing of softscape and hardscape in Tasik Ilham has been studied and analyzed as data in methodology. Circulation, waterflow, wind direction, and view and sensory were analyzed in addition to softscape and hardscape. In the methodology for this study, equipment of measuring tape and combination of modern software technology such as MIUI Compass, Sun Position Demo Application, Plant Net Application, Google Earth, AutoCAD were used to produce a complete Masterplan for the proposed design. Several areas have been proposed by being named as Sandy Garden, Sabaku no niwa Garden, Japanese Reikugāden, Fisshureikupāku Garden, Ritsurin Garden, and Reikupāku Hondo. Design illustrated by drawing of section and elevation. It is recommended that a masterplan based on the concept of a Japanese garden be created in order to attract more international tourists to UiTM Perlis and to serve as an example of a Japanese-themed landscape in the university region.
