Abstract
There are no detailed standards requirements for wood carving workshop spatial planning. The Malaysian Standard requirements are far off from the International Standards such as Indonesia Standard. The wood workshop spatial planning problem cannot be solved put any space randomly; it needs a spatial indicator. Therefore, the spatial organization of the space is essential for a conducive workshop. A better understanding of the workflow is needed to make effective spatial planning of a wood workshop. Thus, the wood workshop's spatial planning needs to be considered with the concurrent changes of culture and the latest technology involved (Ming-Chyuan HO, Po-Lun HOU, 2019). This research aims to identify proper space planning for a wood workshop for the learning process by comparing Malaysia Guidelines and Regulation (Edition, 2015) and international regulation, National Education's Ministry's Regulation (Permadiknas) No.40/2008. This research conducted a mixed-method based on data obtained from an online questionnaire survey; an on-site observation at National Craft Institute (Institut Kraf Negara) in Rawang Selangor. Document review is also used as one of the instruments to gathered data. The data were analysed to evaluate and determine the most suitable spatial planning and the space requirements needed for a wood workshop. The research suggested that excellent spatial planning is linked to an excellent spatial organisation of the wood workshop. The study's result also suggested that management should further understand how to do a conducive wood workshop. The workflow of woodwork needed to be fully understood to know an ideal space allocation as it can affect the users of the wood workshops. It is hoped that the study can improve the requirements of the standard spatial planning of a wood workshop.
