The development of waqf through waqf properties development by perbadanan wakaf Selangor / Mohamad Hafeez Ibrahim

Waqf is very important in the development of the whole Islamic Ummah. Waqf properties is one of the efforts in developing more activities waqf in Malaysia. The waqf properties in Malaysia is still in its initial stage. The establishment of the Selangor Waqf Corporation (PWS) has been a good start for a systematic management of waqf. The purpose of this study is to look the perspectives of waqf base on al-Quran and al-Hadith, analyse the development of waqf properties in Perbadanan Wakaf Selangor and to analyse the development of waqf properties through housing development project in Perbadanan Wakaf Selangor. This study uses method of interviews with the PWS that focuses on the management and development of waqf properties. The results showed that the PWS has lack of practises in waqf properties. However, PWS has developed several projects on waqf properties to developing housing project in Selangor state. The importance of this study is to show that the implementation of waqf properties in housing project will have a positive impact inmoving towards the objective of developed countries such as quality human capital, the development of housing project and economic development. Policy implications of this study refers to the management of waqf institution to be more effective in managing waqf funds for waqf properties to tackle all obstacles such as lack of professional manpower, lack of funds and the administration.
