Abstract
The historic building is one of the most valuable assets of the nation, especially in creating awareness about the history of the building to the future generation and also for the tourism sector. In general, Malaysia is a country that is rich in cultural values, interesting places and architectural values especially in historic buildings.. However, most of the historic buildings are still in dilapidated condition and not well maintained. This is due to a lack of knowledge regarding the maintenance issues, guidelines insufficient and to get the replacement of material is difficult. Referring to this situation, this research seeks to study the conservation maintenance for Historic Buildings in Ipoh and this research has three (3) objective that is to define the importance of maintenance work for heritage building, to identify maintenance practices for heritage building and to explore practice maintenance for heritage building . This research was conducted through 35 respondents by using questionnaire to maintenance management heritage building in Ipoh. The data was processed by using SPSS software and analysed by frequency, reliability and descriptive analysis. The outcome of this research is expected to be used to explore the importance of maintenance of heritage buildings and maintenance practice used to ensure the protection of heritage buildings and establish the good maintenance framework for heritage building in Ipoh.
