Abstract

The development of commercial complexes in Malaysia featuring social and recreational activities besides traditional shopping purposes has given rise in the late 1980s and beyond (Farquhar, 2002). Shopping complexes is place that large retail complex containing a variety of stores and often restaurants and other business. The aim of this research is to gather information and understanding about safety system on using escalator in commercial building. in order to archive aim, the objectives are to identify safety precaution for escalator in shopping complex, to determine the awareness level of visitor toward safety system of escalator in shopping complex, to recommend the solution for overcome the problem of escalator in shopping complex. The data collection will be through observation on the selected shopping complex and questionnaire for the visitors in the selected shopping complex as the respondent in reaching the objectives. Last but not least, through the research hopefully it’s useful in getting public awareness of safety system on escalator which crucial for their safety.
