Abstract
The ergonomic issue is no more a new issue in construction industry although many of the employers’ management department neglect it as a part of the worker’s needs. Ergonomic issue should be emphasized among the entire worker in construction sector since the construction sector is a risky sector which leads to high level of injuries and death. The employer should realize and take the loss of capital on introductory of ergonomic in their organisation as a benefit to produce quality workers with good productivity and at the same time would ease the management unit by the reduction of workers problem. Therefore, this study was conducted to measure the impact of ergonomic in construction site towards the employee’s productivity. This study consists of three objectives which are to identify the common issue related to ergonomic in construction site, to identify the type of disease that related to non-ergonomic working procedure and to measure employees satisfaction towards their working areas. The data questionnaires were distributed to the labour at three residential construction sites around Perak.The finding of this study are Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is very helpful to minimize workplace injuries in construction site for ‘Legislation’ issue, workers agree that they can perform faster with fit tools for ‘Hand Tools’ issue and workers want their supervisor to monitors and suggest Best Work Practise (BWP) for ‘Working Positions’ issue. Besides, the finding for types of disease related with non-ergonomic working procedure in construction site are Hand, Wrist or Arm Musculoskeletal Disorder (HWAMD), Shoulder Musculoskeletal Disorder (SMD) and Low Back Pain Musculoskeletal Disorder (LBP). Moreover, in Management Action the finding is workers are agree to make a report to Management Unit if they feel any pain. The weakness of Management Action is they could not provide an Occupational Doctor to treat their workers. Lastly, this study found that the workers in construction site are satisfied with the facilities provided by their employer.
