Abstract
The sustainable transportation is walking which the user’s will receive a lot of benefit in terms of public health because by walking it could help in reducing a carbon dioxide which is responsible for a global warming, climate change and even cause a poor air quality. However, in order to encourage people to walk, the satisfaction of the community towards the pedestrian walkways need to be achieve. This is shown that the level of satisfaction towards the existing pedestrian walkways is important. Besides that, the aim of this research is to improve and achieve the community satisfaction on pedestrian walkways in Taman Pinggiran, Kajang. This study also will be identifying the walkability network, evaluate the community satisfaction towards the pedestrian walkways provided and also to access community perception on existing pedestrian walkways. Analysis will be based on the primary data that collected via questionnaires that has been answered by 30 respondents and were analyzed using the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS). The result of the analysis shows that the study area is lack of facilities, bad quality of pedestrian pavement and also lack of pedestrian safety awareness. In order to solve all the major problems, recommendations are suggested such as smart bollards, re-paving the existing pedestrian walkways and also pedestrian safety awareness.
