DRN Manufacturing Sdn Bhd is one of the new companies that use biodegradable material in producing their product in Malaysia. DMSB is based in Batu Cave, Selangor. The product that attracts the attention of customers is the biodegradable plastic where the plastic is compostable, recyclable, eco-friendly and can reduce pollution. These are due to the properties of biodegradable material. However, the source in producing the product, which is cropland, is used excessively. The cropland should be used for food and feed the hunger people instead of using it for manufacturing. These problem raises question whether it is reasonable or not. Therefore, in order to solve this issue, an alternative method is used in producing the material for biodegradable plastic which is food waste. Food waste in the kitchen such as the banana peels, coffee grounds, rotten tomatoes and moldy bread surprisingly can be used to replace the cropland. At the same time, by using food waste, the waste in the landfill can also be reduced and pollution will be decreased when it is transformed into biodegradable plastic. Thus, the world environment will get better.
