Abstract
In todays society, it is becoming increasingly difficult to show children that there are important reasons for reading. As teachers one of our most challenging goals will be to help children understand that books and other printed materials can enrich their lives. The greatest gift is a lifelong love of books and reading.
This research concentrates on the finding out of the reading habits of the students of Sek. Keb. Pulau Kerengga, how they perceived their reading and how schools and parents can help in fostering the reading habit of the students.
Sixty students were chosen from 347 students in this school to be the respondents . It was found out that all the respondents like reading but the time spent on reading was not enough. The average duration for one respondent was only one hour a day. Although most of them got motivation from their parents and teachers, they need to spent more time on reading and they also need to vary their reading materials according to their level
