Abstract

The aim of this study was to determine the effectiveness of using newspapers as a teaching technique in enhancing the language learning of year five students. It tried to explain by using newspapers can enhance students’ interests in their reading habits and later would lead to better skills in the production of the language learning.
The findings revealed that newspapers could be an effective tool to be manipulated in a lesson especially by adapting the various sections available in the newspapers into interesting and joyful activities to be carried out in the classroom. Additionally, the current information stated in daily newspapers can also promote students’ proficiency in the English language.
