Abstract

The transportation system in the Seri Iskandar, Perak has long been dominated by motor vehicles. This study conducted covers a comprehensive preparation on the diversity of environmental conditions, physical development, facilities, and traffic conditions in the study area. The Department of the Environment has urged cities to improve bicycle transport as a way of increasing health and activity, lowering fuel usage and greenhouse gas emissions, decreasing pollution, increasing air quality and reducing the amount of miles of vehicles travelled. Bicycle transport is enhanced in the city where comprehensive planning documents have been established to help direct and expand bicycle infrastructure. Before conducting this study, a preliminary study has been conducted to provide an approach to the problems faced by users in the study area. Where this preliminary study covers the history of development, types and categories as well as bicycle route planning. The study was focused to a few issues and problems related to factors that bicycle lane in Seri Iskandar that included safety aspects, attraction, accessibility, facilities and scenery. Moreover, the approach in the area studies are also conducted through questionnaires and observations to help provide accurate information on this problem. To achieve the aim of this study, some objectives were identified, including to determine the concept of bicycle planning which ensures the safety of its users, to identify the elements for community to use the bicycle lane and importantly to propose the physical of bicycle lane for the community. There are two methods used that include online questionnaire and observation. Indirectly it has proved that bike lanes are needed in the study area to reduce conflict and accident risk. By which thus the elements of convenience should be fully provided for ensuring the safety and comfort of users in the study area. But that thus the issues and problems that arise in this study area should be made one examples or references to create an organized community center and planned.
